Direct answer

Buy ScrapingBee if you want a thin hosted scrape API: HTML or rendered HTML in, credits out, with published JavaScript (5) and premium-proxy (10 or 25) multipliers, geotargeting and extraction rules included on the plan card, and no actor store. Skip it if the job is hosted Markdown for agents (Firecrawl), an actor platform (Apify), a toolkit that also meters Browser minutes and residential GB as credits (ZenRows), or a scrape API whose public table names Google = 25 and LinkedIn = 30 (ScraperAPI).

  • Official prices, rechecked November 6, 2026: Hobby $19 / 75,000 credits / 25 concurrent; Freelance $49 / 250,000 / 50; Startup $99 / 1,000,000 / 100; Business $249 / 3,000,000 / 200; Business+ $599 / 8,000,000 / 400. Credits last one month and do not roll over. Cancel anytime, no questions asked.
  • The unit that decides “worth it”: a $19 plan is 75,000 easy pages, 15,000 JS pages, or 3,000 premium+JS pages. The same 10,000 URLs can be a $19 story or a $49 story depending on that mix.
  • The full calculator lives on ScrapingBee pricing. This page answers whether the scrape API is the right product.

1. Who ScrapingBee is for — and who should skip it

This review answers a purchase question: is a thin scrape API worth paying for? Plan math lives on ScrapingBee pricing; leave paths on ScrapingBee alternatives. The actor-platform fork is ScrapingBee vs Apify.

Buy it when…

  • You collect HTML or rendered HTML and will parse it yourself.
  • You want published JS (5 credits) and premium-proxy (10 or 25) weights without standing up an actor runtime.
  • Hobby’s 75,000 credits and 25 concurrent requests match a light-to-mid mix better than a $49 SERP-weighted pack, and you like geotargeting, screenshots, and CSS/XPath extraction rules listed as included on every standard card.

Skip it when…

  • The output you need is Markdown or JSON-for-agents — Firecrawl review.
  • You need store actors or custom long-running jobs — Apify review.
  • You wanted published Google = 25 / LinkedIn = 30 hostname multipliers — compare ScraperAPI review.
  • You wanted one wallet that also meters Browser minutes and residential GB — ZenRows review.

UA did not create a ScrapingBee account or run a stealth bake-off. Figures come from the official pricing page, rechecked November 6, 2026. There is no affiliate button on this page.

2. What you are actually buying

ScrapingBee sells a hosted scrape API billed from one monthly credit bucket, not a Markdown context API and not an actor store. The public card is unusually explicit about what is included versus what is weighted.

QuestionWhat official materials say
Paid entryHobby $19 / 75,000 credits / 25 concurrent requests.
Credit weightsRequests start at 1 credit. Each successful JS-rendered request costs 5. Each successful premium-proxy request costs 10 or 25 depending on JS.
Included on every standard card we fetchedJS rendering (as a feature; still 5 credits when used), rotating and premium proxies, geotargeting (200+ countries; 40+ on classic proxies), screenshots and extraction rules, and dedicated scraping APIs named on the card (Google, Fast Search, Amazon, Walmart, ChatGPT, Gemini, YouTube, Employee Search).
Unused creditsValid for one month and do not roll over.
CancellationCancel anytime, no questions asked.
What you do not buyAn actor store, a Markdown-for-agents API, or a published hostname-multiplier table like ScraperAPI’s Google = 25 / LinkedIn = 30. Dedicated APIs are included as features; the card does not print their per-call weight next to the 1 / 5 / 10-or-25 table.
When support extras startPriority email, a dedicated account manager, and team management (invite users and assign credit/concurrency quotas) appear on Business ($249) and above, not on Hobby through Startup.

3. Pricing snapshot — is the bill in range?

PlanPriceCreditsConcurrentMax JS pagesMax premium+JS pages
Hobby$1975,0002515,0003,000
Freelance$49250,0005050,00010,000
Startup$991,000,000100200,00040,000
Business$2493,000,000200600,000120,000
Business+$5998,000,0004001,600,000320,000

Enterprise rows we captured: Enterprise 14 at $999 / 14,000,000 credits / 500 concurrent; Enterprise 24 at $1,599 / 24,000,000 / 600. A further Enterprise 41 row is labeled on the page; we did not capture its full sticker, so we will not invent it.

10,000 standard pages: 10,000 credits, well inside Hobby at $19. The same 10,000 with JS: 50,000 credits, still Hobby, with only 25,000 credits of headroom. The same 10,000 at the 25-credit premium+JS weight: 250,000 credits — Freelance’s entire bucket at $49, with no headroom. That is why “is it worth $19?” is the wrong question: it is worth $19 while most URLs stay at 1 or 5 credits.

A mixed month of 5,000 standard + 3,000 JS + 1,000 premium+JS is 5,000 + 15,000 + 25,000 = 45,000 credits, still Hobby. Shift the hard tail to 4,000 premium+JS plus 10,000 standard and 5,000 JS and the total becomes 135,000 credits — Freelance at $49. Full conversion rows live on the pricing page.

4. Technical workflow

  1. Classify a sample of real URLs before you buy a plan: pages that return usable HTML without JS, pages that need rendering, and pages you believe need premium proxies. A week of easy HTML only measures easy HTML, not ScrapingBee.
  2. Send the lightest request that can work. Forcing JS or premium proxies “just in case” is how Hobby’s 75,000 credits disappear. Official JS and premium lines charge each successful request at 5 or at 10/25.
  3. Parse the HTML yourself, or use the included extraction rules (CSS or XPath) when the schema is real. Extraction rules are listed as included; they do not turn the product into a Markdown-for-agents API.
  4. Watch concurrency separately from credits. Hobby’s 25 concurrent requests are generous next to several scrape-API free tiers (ZenRows Free lists 5; ScraperAPI’s free plan lists 5 threads) and still too small for a wide sitemap fan-out. Queueing at 25 is a plan-family problem, not slowness.
  5. Do not bank unused credits. A quiet month still costs the plan fee. Size for the peak month.
  6. Use dedicated scraping APIs only after you know their billed weight. The plan card includes them as features. Without a published per-call number next to the 1 / 5 / 10-or-25 table, do not assume they are 1 credit and do not assume they match another vendor’s Google = 25.

A fair first week, without claiming we ran it, mixes the four classes you expect in production and keeps a ledger: credits you predicted from the mode you requested versus credits that disappeared. If you forced premium+JS on every URL, the ledger will always match 25× and you will have paid to learn nothing about the lighter modes.

5. Pitfalls

  • Comparing ScrapingBee Hobby $19 to Firecrawl Hobby $19, ZenRows Build $19, or Apify Starter $19 as if they bought the same page.
  • Assuming Google or LinkedIn pages cost 1 credit because the starting weight is 1. The public table we fetched does not publish ScraperAPI-style hostname multipliers.
  • Buying ScrapingBee to feed an LLM and then spending a sprint converting HTML to Markdown. If context-for-agents was the job, you started in the wrong category.
  • Buying it as a substitute for a store actor or a custom login-and-paginate job. That is Apify’s product.
  • Reading “JavaScript rendering: Included” as “JS is free.” Included means the feature is available; each successful JS request still costs 5 credits.
  • Jumping to Business ($249) for an account manager when the credit math only needed Freelance ($49).

6. Decision

If your situation is…Decision
HTML collection, JS/premium weights, no actorsScrapingBee is worth evaluating at Hobby if the mix stays near 1–5 credits.
Most URLs will need the 25-credit premium+JS pathStill possibly yes — but price it as Freelance or higher. Use the pricing page.
You need Markdown-for-agentsWrong category. Open Firecrawl.
You need actorsOpen Apify. See ScrapingBee vs Apify.
You need published Google/LinkedIn multipliersCompare ScraperAPI on that vendor’s published table, not by assuming ScrapingBee matches it.
You already know the API fits and need the billScrapingBee pricing

ScrapingBee is worth it for teams whose job is fetching pages through a small, published weight table, especially when geotargeting or extraction rules on the same card remove a reason to add a second vendor. It is not a generic best scraper, not an actor platform, and not an LLM context API. There is no affiliate button on this page.

7. FAQ

Is ScrapingBee worth it?

Yes, if a thin scrape API matches the job and your mix fits Hobby or Freelance. No, if you wanted Markdown-for-agents, an actor store, or published Google/LinkedIn multipliers. Official paid entry is Hobby at $19 / 75,000 credits / 25 concurrent, checked November 6, 2026.

How much does ScrapingBee cost?

Hobby $19 / 75k; Freelance $49 / 250k; Startup $99 / 1M; Business $249 / 3M; Business+ $599 / 8M. See the pricing page for scenario math, including Enterprise 14 and 24.

Do unused credits roll over?

Official materials: credits are valid for one month and do not roll over.

Does ScrapingBee charge 25 credits for Google the way ScraperAPI does?

Not on the public weight table we fetched. ScraperAPI publishes Google and Bing at 25 credits and LinkedIn at 30. ScrapingBee lists dedicated scraping APIs, including a Google API, as included features, without printing that per-call weight next to its 1 / 5 / 10-or-25 schedule. Do not invent the missing number, and do not assume it is 1.

When does concurrency, not credits, decide the plan?

Hobby lists 25 concurrent requests; Freelance 50; Startup 100; Business 200; Business+ 400. Enterprise 14 lists 500 concurrent at $999 / 14 million credits; Enterprise 24 lists 600 at $1,599 / 24 million. If a morning fan-out already queues at 25 workers while the monthly credit math still fits Hobby’s 75,000, the constraint is concurrency — a Startup step at $99, not a new vendor. Priority email, a dedicated account manager, and team-management extras start at Business ($249) on the cards we fetched; do not buy Business for those extras if Freelance already holds the credit mix.

Do you earn a commission on ScrapingBee?

Not at the time this page was written. A hidden placeholder sits in the HTML for later; it is not visible and does not point at a live vendor URL.
